I was so honoured to photograph Jyra (my cousin) and her fiancé Kyle’s wedding. We come from a pretty big family so it was super fun and extra special that most of the guests were my relatives! I love it when couples give their weddings unique touches that really show their personality and this wedding was just that! Like myself, a few of Jyra’s favourite things are Harry Potter, good books and tea! They even chose red and gold as a part of their wedding palette to represent Gryffindor! We started the day getting ready at her family’s home, and then had the opportunity to take some photos of the bride and the bridesmaids before heading to the church where the guys were also getting ready! Though Jyra and Kyle had planned on a warm autumn wedding, they got a fresh blanket of snow! It was freezing but the softly falling snowflakes were oh so magical and romantic looking! I wish more people had winter weddings because they are so enchanted looking! The ceremony was held at Knox Evangelical Free Church in Edmonton and is absolutely breathtaking! It is over 100 years old, boasts magnificent stained glass windows and many other beautiful antique aspects. Jyra and Kyle decorated with simple touches, such as signs that read “Happily Ever After” & “Once Upon A Time” (to tie in their book theme), pillar candles and vases of red flowers. Afterwards we headed to Fort Edmonton Park to take photos, then attend the reception which was in Egge’s Barn. Each table was named after a different couple from movies or books, and had stacks of books and teacups for decor. Jyra and Kyle had a candy and tea bar (a tea bar is probably the best idea ever!) and the world’s most amazing wedding cake! They also chose a bible as their guestbook, which I have never seen done before and thought was the most lovely idea! It will make an amazing keepsake for years to come. I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek of your beautiful wedding day! I love you both and wish you all of the happiness in the world!
